Collaboration with the Australian Maritime Museum

BBM’s CEO, Suellen McCaffrey, and Legacy Manager, Maria Ellensohn recently met with representatives from the Australian Maritime Museum to explore ways to collaborate in the lead up to our Centenary in 2025.

We are thrilled to report that our meeting was incredibly productive, and the BBM team left feeling inspired by the enthusiasm and interest shown by the Museum, who are eager to welcome the community of former Little Brothers to the Museum, to commemorate this upcoming milestone.

Among the ideas discussed were opportunities for former Little Brothers to share their stories, have their names recorded on the National Monument to Migration, participate in a dedicated panel and ceremony, and contribute to the development of oral history collections, web content, and podcasts within the National Maritime Collection.

We’re now reaching out to you, our cherished community, to gauge your interest in these wonderful opportunities.

Would you be interested in:

  • Sharing your migration story in a podcast?

  • Providing historical items from the time you migrated (relevant for the museum)?

  • Having your name engraved on the Memorial Wall of the Maritime Museum? (Please note there are costs associated with this)

  • Participating in the ceremony by sharing your migration story?

If any of these opportunities resonate with you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at legacy@bbm.asn.au or give us a call at 0402 197 712.

We’d love to hear from you!
